Carriage Mounted Spreader Bars - This particular type of mast has three parts as the name implies. The external part is attached securely to the lift vehicle. The next part telescopes in the mounted outer section and the inner most section telescopes inside the intermediate part. Both the intermediate and the interior section raise and the lift cylinders extend. Once again in this model, the fork carriage rides in the inner part. The 3 stage mast provides a shorter lowered height as opposed to the 2 stage mast. The common usage of the 3 stage mast is in areas such as doorways where overhead clearances are restricted. This mast is usually outfitted with a center cylinder so as to allow the fork carriage elevate some distance before the mast sections commence lengthening.
The 2 Stage Mast includes two sections. The internal part telescopes inside of the external and raises while the lift cylinders lengthen. The outer section of this mast model is connected to the lift truck. The fork carriage is actually situated inside the inner section. This particular mast type has a taller lowered height as opposed to an equivalent lift height quad mast or 3 stage mast.
